CEO and co-founder  Bob Benkowski has been developing medical devices for over 25 years including ventricular assist devices, a butane powered blood warmer for the military, minimally invasive blood pump life test fixtures, adipose transplant system, and artificial heart system and components. He was the supervisor of the surgical engineering lab at Baylor College of Medicine and prior to the medical device field, he worked for McDonnell Douglas in the Space Station Program office at NASA Johnson Space Center. He is an assistant professor at the Burnett/TCU Medical School as a mentor to medical students.

 Dr. Mohanty is co-founder of Opsin Biotherapeutics. He obtained M.Tech in Applied Optics from the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi and a PhD in (Bio)Physics from the Indian Institute of Sciences-Bangalore. His extensive Biomedical Technologies experience includes serving as Professor/Senior Scientist at the University of Texas;  Univ

 Dr. Mohanty is co-founder of Opsin Biotherapeutics. His extensive Biomedical Technologies experience includes serving as Professor/Senior Scientist at the University of Texas;  University of California, Irvine; Center for Adv. Tech (India); Int. Mol. Biotech (Germany); Univ. Pavia (Italy); NUS (Singapore); and University of St. Andrews (UK). He has authored over 200 international patents and publications in leading journals including Nature and Nature Photonics.

He obtained a bachelors of Science in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology from Arizona State University where his research focused on genetic analysis and the role of specific genes in neurological development and neuroplasticity. He obtained a bachelors of Science in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology from Arizona State University where his research focused on genetic analysis and the role of specific genes in neurological development and neuroplasticity. Since receiving his Doctorate in Medicine from San Juan Bautista School of Medicine, his work has centered around novel tools for the study and modulation of biological systems on a genetic and cellular level.  He has dedicated his career to innovation in the treatment of neurological diseases.

Michael A. Patterson is a healthcare executive with over 25 years of diverse management experience within the pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech industries.  He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for DesignPlex BioMedical LLC . He previously served in several CFO roles at Smith & Nephew overseeing a $2.5 Billion orthopedics and wound care business.  Prior to this, Mr. Patterson spent 22 years at privately-held DFB Pharmaceuticals in Fort Worth, TX, where his roles included CFO, President of the International and Surgical divisions, and Executive Vice President of Business Development.
